When to convert text to HTML

Pasting text from Word, Notepad or chat logs into web pages, email templates or rich-text editors usually loses the structure. This tool rebuilds it semantically: blank lines become <p> paragraphs, line lists become <ul>/<ol>, delimited text becomes a <table>, and code stays intact in an escaped <pre><code> block.

"Newlines to <br>" suits poems and addresses where in-paragraph line breaks must be kept. Character escaping is on by default, turning & < > into &amp; &lt; &gt; so angle brackets in your text are never parsed as tags. Table mode splits columns by tab by default (exactly what Excel puts on the clipboard) or any custom separator.

Everything is processed locally in your browser. The generated code is properly indented with closed tags — paste it straight into HTML files, emails or the source mode of a CMS editor.

How to use

  1. Paste plain text into the box above.
  2. Pick a mode and options; the HTML updates live.
  3. Click "Copy code" and paste it into your page, email or editor source view.

FAQ

How do I convert an Excel sheet to HTML?

Copy the cell range in Excel and paste it here — it arrives tab-separated. Choose "Table" mode; the first row becomes a bold <th> header by default.

Why did my angle brackets become &lt;&gt;?

That is character escaping: in HTML source, & < > must be escaped to display as text. Turn the option off if you intentionally want to emit HTML tags.

How are paragraphs determined?

Blank lines (one or more) separate paragraphs. Single newlines inside a paragraph become spaces by default, or <br> if you enable the option.

Does it support Markdown?

No — this tool structures plain text and does not parse Markdown syntax. Use a dedicated Markdown renderer for Markdown documents.
